Polling stations abroad opened during presidential elections in Poland and Romania in 2025

In the first half of the year 2025 it just so happened that two large European countries that experienced decades of communism and later large emigration to western countries held presidential elections. Both countries opened record number of polling stations outside of respective countries and you can see on these two maps below where they were set.

I made those maps briefly after the second round of elections in Poland, but I wanted to make more in depth analysis, some more maps of specific regions, so I didn't upload them until I realized time flies and maybe I just put them as they are, it's fine.

Number of Polish polling stations: 508 + 3 lately added

Added stations right before elections: Rennes and Caen in France and Baghdad in Iraq. Despite years after Brexit, Polish diaspora in the UK is still numerous.

Number of Romanian polling stations: 965

This map shows how huge the emigration from Romania was since joining EU. In Italy and Spain they could vote in at least 100 polling stations, especially concentrated in Northern Italy, Madrid metropolitan area and Mediterranean coast of Spain.
